The system alarms contain constant, up-to-date records of all detected faults. Maintenance personnel may view the system alarms at any time via the System Administration Tool. If an alarm threshold is reached, the system raises an alarm condition. The alarm condition remains until the fault is corrected. An entry is made in the Maintenance Log upon any change in the alarm status.
The system can also send notification of alarms by email.
An alarm state displays in three places:
in the Alarm Status area at the top of the System Administration Tool window
on the front panel of the controller (Alarm LEDs)
on the attendant console.
Alarm Levels |

NO ALARM |
The system is functioning properly. |
MINOR |
The system has detected a minor problem that may affect service. |
MAJOR |
The system has detected a problem that is causing a serious degradation of service. |
CRITICAL |
The system has detected a serious loss of call processing capability. System Fail Transfer is invoked by a Critical Alarm. |
NOTE: Loss of power to the controller trips (closes) the Critical Alarm relay on the alarm port. The alarm port is not available on the AX and CX II/CXi II.
If the system is showing an alarm:
Select Maintenance and Diagnostics > Alarms.
Click Alarm Details.
This will show you any/all alarms on the system.
Click the links under Category Name for information about the alarms and how to resolve them.
In a Multi-node Management environment, you can also get to the Alarm Details through the Admin Group Alarm Summary form.
